Who is PADI?
PADI is the leading scuba diving training agency for scuba diving in the world. As of 2015 it has a membership of over 136,000 individuals and 6,200 dive centres in over 170 different countries in the world, and has issues in excess of 23,000,000 diving certifications internationally.
PADI was developed in 1966 by John Cronin and Ralph Erickson who both felt there needed to be a professional organization that made it easy for anybody to become a skilled and confident diver. Prior to this most scuba diving was done primarily by ex navy staff and wasn’t readily available to the common man.
To solve this problem, they joined forces to create the Professional Association of Diving Instructors, or PADI, as most people know it today.
PADI now have in excess of 50 different courses to choose from starting from beginner, like the PADI Discover Scuba Diving and the PADI Open Water courses right up to the professional instructor courses like the PADI Instructor Development course. PADI also now has a wide range of technical courses and the biggest range in the world of specialty scuba diving courses which can get you doing specialty courses like the PADI Wreck Diver or PADI Night Diver. One this is for sure is that you will never get bored diving with PADI.
PADI also have the best network of dive centres (170+ countries), the best customer and professional support systems and are the worlds leaders in online training modules.
The PADI motto says it all.
